Extending Your Site
There are a multitude of modules that are not just limited to blog sites. Initially XOOPS can be used as a small blog site, though it can scale to a news site or forum, or even an enterprise level site such as eCommerce.
XOOPS comes preloaded with a wide range of core modules to get you started, though you can download additional add-ons via the admin area’s Modules section. These files are usually compressed files that can be downloaded, uncompressed then reuploaded accordingly.
Similar to extending your site through modules, you can also customise the appearance of your site. XOOPS uses the Smarty template engine – web templates written in PHP. Thankfully, if you are not so savvy with creating your own custom template directly with PHP, there is an abundance of user created templates available either free or at a premium on the marketplace.
